Incentives
The Rolla Region is open for business and open to the use of incentives to maximize any business investment in Phelps County. The City of St. James will provide free land in their designated industrial areas in exchange for job creation and new investment. The City of Rolla supports an enterprise zone at the original Hypoint Industrial Park and is willing to consider Chapter 100 financing for businesses locating in the Hypoint addition.
Applicable incentives from the Missouri Department of Economic Development are also available on all Phelps County sites.
The Missouri University of Science & Technology (MST)
MST is one of the leading Engineering and research universities in the U.S. offering more engineering degrees than many other nationally ranked institutions, such as Purdue, Georgia Tech, and the University of Illinois. MST is located on a 284-acre campus in central Rolla and has an enrollment of 5,700 students, 22 % of which are pursuing post-graduate degrees.

National Recognitions of the Quality of Life in the Rolla Region
The Rolla Region continues to be recognized for its outstanding quality of life. Rolla was selected as one of the 100 Best Towns in America (Norman Crampton 1993, 1995) based on the natural environment and population diversity. Rolla was also recently named among the top 100 best places for hunting and fishing by OUTDOOR MAGAZINE. Additional recognition has come from the Author of Boom Town, USA which identified Rolla as one the winning "Agurbs" in Missouri (ranking among the top 2.5% of all non-metro towns in the nation). The publishers of BIZJOURNALS placed Rolla number 13 out of a total of 557 micropolitan area nationwide based on 12 factors. The city was ranked #2 in the Midwest. The factors included population growth, income growth, affordability of housing, educational attainment, low taxation and business growth rates.
